In this segment , you will be given a picture which can be depicted with any location e.g, playground, school etc
# Scrutinize, as you would in a crime scene, through the picture and pick out the event or issue presented in the picture e.g, Year End Sale, Art Festival etc.
# Always use the present tense or present contionous tense whenever needed. Do not use past tense as if you did, you would not score for language.
# Determine the place the scene is taking place in and use that as the opening statement.
Here are some examples:
~ This a scene in a school.
~ This picture depicts a scene at a playground
# Support your observations with vivid details or evidence.
Example:
If the picture shows a man with a smile on his face, then you could say:
The man looks happy because he is smiling.
# Always try to engage your own opinions or judgments in the discussion. You may use these sentence starters to help you.
~ In my opinion
~ I think
~ I suggest
~ I believe
However, students tend to use these starters very often during the discussion.
Example:
If the picture shows a boy tearing a page from the book in a library, then you can say:
This is a wrong act. We should never touch or damage public property and if there is a need to use them, we should make sure it is well-kept. If I were the boy,I would not behave like the way he did. As the saying goes, Actions have Consequences. In this case , the consequence of his actions is disastrous.
You should not say:
I think this is a wrong act.
Since the boy's actions is a wrong act, there isn't any need for you to say I think.
# Try to use the 5Ws and 1H. More known as 5 wives and 1 husband, its actual meaning is :
~ What is happening in the picture
~ Where is this happening
~ When is this likely to happen
~ Who are involved in this
~ Why could this be happening
~ How can this avoided
